Pumpkin Tea Cookies

These cookies will change your life.  I don't really LOVE pumpkin things.  At least not pumpkin pie.  These cookies were my first pumpkin exception, and they are magnificent...they are the bearers of fall to our home.

For the Cookies:

1 cup sugar
1 cupbutter flavored Crisco
1 cup pumpkin pie filling
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1tsp. salt

Cream sugar and Crisco together until smooth.  Add pumpkin filling and mix thoroughly.  Mix in egg.  Stir in dry ingredients.  Using a small scoop, drop dough onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 13 - 15 minutes.

For the Frosting:

3 tbsp. melted butter
4 tsp. milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.  Mix in milk and brown sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved.  Remove from heat.  Add vanilla and powdered sugar and mix until smooth.  Spread on warm cookies.

Go ye and do likewise.  You won't regret it!  Well, you might...if you hate cookies.  And fall.  And all things warm and delicious and comforting.
